Disneyland
Dear readers I think you are all expecting a new entry, and here it is. Because I had some program this week-end I didn’t have time to write. Friday evening after the groceries tour with Rodrigo, my assistant and his wife we were looking for a comfortable bar in Laguna Beach, unfortunately there weren’t this much and the only one more or less acceptable had a live band that played so loud that it was not possible to understand any of the others. So we decided to go back to Newport Beach, where we found a couple of nice places to enjoy some beers.
The next morning Christian, a student from Mexico, rented a car and we had tickets for Disneyland. It was the first time for both of us on American streets and even if we had a navigator, we had to turn around two or three times to come back to our route. But finally we got to our target and a funny day in Disneyland could start. One of the first attractions we crossed was the Grizzly River Rafting Co. a ride on wild water. Christian had to persuade me, because of
my skepticism concerning the cold wheatear. So we did this ride and at least by now I know that I was right ;-) The result of this ride is shown in the picture. At least he couldn’t talk himself out of my suggestion to take the California Screamin, a pretty cool roller coaster (but I think I will find some other and better ones).
Next on the list was The Twilight zone Tower of Terror! You go in the hotel, walk a bit around and then you go into an elevator, prepared that everything can happen, it starts pretty lame and you sit there listening to a story of another dimension blablabla… and suddenly, when you believe that nothing else would happen you start to go up and then you fall down, up again and then opens a gate and you remark that you are in the top of the building, and then down again and up and down and… *shake, shake, shake*
These were the main attractions from the California Park and because we bought park hopper tickets we changed to Disney land. In terms of rollercoaster there weren’t much attraction, but for me it was interesting because most of the coaster seemed pretty familiar to me. I finally realized, that most of them are the same as in Paris and I was amazed how the memory came up even if it’s more than ten years that I have been there. And when we saw the Matterhorn coaster, I remembered how my grandparents told me about it when they came home from their California trip.
We spent most of the day on the roller coasters and once they closed, we went for dinner. Afterwards Christian wanted to do some shopping (he will leave for Mexico Wednesday and needed some presents for his family) and we
went from souvenir shop to souvenir shop. Finally in the evening they had a big firework. The whole attraction was commented by a speaker and some music and they illustrated scenes from the different themes of the park. The show lasted about 20 min. and afterwards we left in direction Irvine, to get some sleep, because we had some other plans for Sunday, but more from it another time, it’s late here and I have to get up early tomorrow.
